5AWESOME!!!!
By Average Joe
So I am the type of person who will try something out, and if it doesn't live up to the hype, I will take it back. This washer is AWESOME with a few exceptions. To us, these are very expensive machines and we had to think long and hard about the price, features, durability and reliability. We were also very concerned that this monster size washer/dryer set wouldn't fit in our small laundry room, even after multiple measurements. We even planned on permanently removing a door to make it fit. We looked at HE Top loaders but decided they just wouldn't meet our needs. When we purchased the dryer, we opted to have the vent go to the right side instead of the back which was a great decision. Because we did so, when we stacked them, we found they only need a couple of inches space from the wall so they fit like a glove. We actually couldn't believe it. For those other people who have small laundry rooms, if you vent out to the side, you only need like 2 inches behind the washer dryer instead of the required 5+ inches. If we had known, we wouldn't have even looked at the HE Top loaders. We replaced a 7 year old Bosch front loader with this machine and wow, what a machine. I actually sat in front of the machine for 5 hours, reading a book and doing laundry because I wanted to see if it did the 6 different motions and how the various cycles worked. Here are the things we love about the machine:The 5.1 Cu FT size is wonderful. We washed a king size quilt in it but weren't sure if it could fit the rest of the bedding. I watched it wash and saw there was more than enough room for the rest of the bedding. Not only can it wash much bigger loads, our bedding came out much cleaner when compared to the Bosch. We can now wash all our darks in 1 load which was something we couldn't do with our Bosch. The different wash cycle options are great. I am not sure if we will ever need to do a customized cycle but we have that option. We love the Turbo wash. It sprays soap water on the items as it washes, speeding up the cycle. It uses the soap water already in the tub which prevents it from diluting the laundry detergent and using excess water. This is a great concept. I would imagine that people complaining about this feature are coming from a non HE washer that uses a lot more water. I don't know about other people, but it seems that a lot of the US is in a drought, saving water while getting clothing clean is a win in my book. If you don't like this feature, you don't have to use it.The steam function seems like a great option but we haven't had a real chance to use it yet. We tried it on one stain that had already been set in a couple of washes ago. We treated it with 3 different stain cleaners and washed it 3 times but it didn't come out. Not the washers fault since it was already an old set in stain but it would have been great to see it come out.Having a light in the washer is also a great feature. It allows me to see how well I am doing with filling up the machine but not going overboard. (Haven't gotten close to overloading it yet)Our laundry room is connected to a great room so we are sensitive to noise. We will still close the door when drying since we can hear buttons/zippers etc .hitting the dryer tub, but otherwise, the noise pollution is very low. This machine cleans very well and the chime at the end is nice. It's also nice that the most used cycle (cottons/normal) is the default wash when it turns on. Just put your stuff in, turn it on and push start. Off you go, no fuss, no muss. The timing seems dead on and the cycles complete within the said time frame. It is faster than our old machine which would say 1 hour but would really mean 1 hour 30 minutes or so...We use the timed feature as well since our electricity is cheaper at night, another bonus. We did a lot of research and found LG makes great washers and dryers and the 10 year warrenty on the washer is a good feeling. Consumer reports listed LG has one of the brands that requires the least amount of repairs. Here are the cons:The buttons themselves don't have a backlight which makes it really hard to see in our dark laundry room. Since we stacked the units, the ceiling light reflects off the dryer buttons so we have to really squint to see what to push. It would have been much better to put a backlight in the buttons. Once you push the button a little light appears, but it doesn't illuminate the title of the button.Yep, that is our only problem with the washer. We love the thing. We feel we got the best features and value. This is our first LG washer/dryer set and we don't regret getting them.

4Works Fine. Huge.
By S. Kolla
We have small kids and go through washing a lot. Due to space we wanted to stack washer/dryer and wanted something large. Sears had a sale for washer/dryer combo and ordered it. The delivery guys came in stacked the units with LG stacking kit and took the old ones. I had to connect the lines and tubes myself. So far works as advertised. Which is not labelled on the unit, is that washer needs HE laundry detergent. It would have been nice to include a sticker. The height is 41". You will need at least 84" to stack. If you are short, you will need a step stool to see the dials on the drier. The operation is silent. My clothes washed well. The electronic dryer was very efficient, drying my clothes in half the time as my 10 year old one.

5Mind boggling awesome replacement for old standard washer
By avi
I bought this thing from Sears to replace an old standard top loading washer that had developed a leak. Not very happy with Sears, due to some mixups in the delivery, but once I got the jumbo washer and matching dryer installed and running, it just about blew my mind. Between the extra capacity (~2 times more than my old washer) and faster drying (~1 hour instead of 1.5 hours) I think this pair processes my laundry 3 times faster. The extra options and efficiency are nice, but the speed and capacity are what really amazed me and differentiate it from the competition. I also really like the clearly audible and pleasant song it plays at the end of the cycle. Way better the *brrrrr* noise my old dryer made. The only downside is that the drum doesn't drain away bits of hair or the occasional ball of lint as well my old washer. A quick wipe down between loads resolves the issue.
