5Nice Microwave
By Jason Drury
Our over-the-range GE microwave died only after about 1 1/2 years. I was so mad because it was one of the most difficult things I ever had to install (I am a pretty handy guy. Woodworking and carpentry are my hobbies - I am a computer geek by day. I've built my own kitchen cabinets, bunk beds for my kids, wardrobe for my daughter, did my own kitchen remodel, built a deck, my kid's a playhouse, and many other things). For the last 2-3 years we used a cheap $50 counter-top microwave we purchased from a local store. Then that one died so we decided to get a new over-the-range one. We settled on this one and I am happy we did because it was easier to install then the GE, but if you do not have at least basic carpentry skills, do not attempt to start with installing one of these. I had to do quite a bit to prepare my wall to bare the weight of it. We really like the look of this microwave and it works just fine. It is a built loud when it runs and so is in the fan, but all of these microwaves are. The under-counter light is nice as well. My only complaint (and it is a minor one) is I wish it had an "add 30 seconds" button. It has an "add one minute button" which is useful, but it would have been better if it had both. Also one thing that is strange is the microwave does not have the brand name "Amana" on any visible surface. I have never seen an appliance did not display the brand name. Also someone who reviewed the white version of this left a negative review that said it just magically fell after one year of use. There is no way one of these things could just fall if installed properly (supported by wood screwed into the studs). The person who installed it must have been incompetent. Like I said do not let one of these be your first carpentry project.

4Sturdy oven, except for the finish
By M. Grubert
Originally I was going to give this oven a 5 star rating, but then I tried to wipe down the surface with water and a paper towel. That did not get rid of the finger prints so I used a magic eraser which caused the finish to be destroyed making it matte and filled with swirls. Some other caveats: even in new condition the finish is not entirely black but more of a dark grey. There is a built-in temperature sensor causing th vent to come on if the microwave exceeds a certain temperature. This does not require the microwave to actually be in use as I found out while cooking some soup on the stove underneath the microwave which triggered the sensor.

5good choice
By loika
I like everything about the microwave, the look, the size, the ease of operating. The add a minute feature works gr8 for me. I can put in my food/beverage and hit add a minute and it's just that easy for a quick, easy heat up. If you decide you want to add another minute you can hit add a minute pad/key again as the microwave is running. It's very user friendly. My handsome husband who loves to eat, had no trouble installing it. He has installed microwaves in our kitchen before thanks to the junk GE sells. Our last 2 microwaves were from GE. The first one died after 1 and 1/2 years. The second one after 1 year. Total junk & total waste of money, that's GE. I know, I know I bought it twice but I've learned my lesson. Here's hoping this one will last a long, long time......
