Fantastic Washer!!

It's been less than a month, but we love it! And, here's why:- Very quiet- Uses 1/3 of the water and 1/3 of the electric - from what I understand.- Very modern and cool looking- Interface is very very simple - I don't need complicated in a washing machine.- Also, it seems like the capacity is identical to our old top-loader machine - or so close anyway, I can't tell the difference.Best of all!! The buttons and labels are very large! The writing on the unit is large enough to read without glasses!! Probably my favorite part.I read some reviews online where people were complaining about the length of time a wash cycle would take. The normal wash in a front loader, in my experience, takes about 50 minutes. If you start clicking away on the buttons and adding 'prewash' or 'heavily soiled' - that kind of stuff - the wash time can take up to 2-hours. Again, that seems normal to me - I'm not sure where the complaints are coming from.I read somewhere that there was an interior light on this unit - alas, there is not. But, for some cool reason the shiny stainless interior seems to be fairly well lit - almost as though there is a light - but I don't see one.

Buy any company but Samsung!! No customer support!

I bought this unit 6 months ago, 10 days ago the door would not lock, so i opened up a ticket for service and talk to a Samsung rep and they said they would contact me in 1 to 2 days i called a few days later because i didn't get a call, they gave me the number for the service company when i called it the number was disconnected, i called back and the Samsung rep called and the number was not working, so they set me up with another company and gave me the number i have left multiple messages and never got a call back from the service company, so i called Samsung, who said they would make sure someone would call me (6 days had past) i never got a call back. I call back a few days later and they said they would promise to get someone to call me, which never happens. 10 days later i called again, and they had me talk to the highest department that would help me, i talked to the rep and he said he would have to send it to the dispatch department to find a tech in my area because the two are not responding to them (i live in a major city) and it would take 2 to 3 days to get a response, when i asked to talk to a supervisor he said they where not available but he could request them to call me in a few days, i told him this was not acceptable but he said there is nothing they can do, so i have been doing laundry out, and it seems like they have no support to help! all they do is keep moving you to different departments and days past, it has been 10 days and it seems like it will take another 10 days so, i would tell everyone to purchase another company machine, because if you ever have an issue you might as well buy a back up machine because they will not help you! I have spent over 4 hours talking to people and this is day 10! Stay away!

We had a front loader when we lived in Germany, and I remembered how clean the clothes were, but that the cycle was long, the tub was small and the washer could get smelly. When our top loader died here in the States, I did want a front loader, but without the issues we faced in Germany. (Seriously, who wants a smelly, tiny tub that takes over two hours to do a load?). I asked friends for recommendations for brands and features; several had the Samsung. Many recommended the Steam Feature.I decided on the 4.0 cubic feet model in order to fit in more clothes since we have three sons and I was prepared for the longer cycle. Well, to my surprise, most of the cycles for normal washes are only 45 minutes. There's a quick wash for 20 minutes or so, too. The steam cycles are longer, but one doesn't need those that often.The washer is easy to install and easy to use, too. It uses much less water than the old top loader.Since we have three sons, we do a lot of wash... love the Athletic Clothes' option. I am enjoying the Steam Option, as well, and wanted that for our son's hockey clothing.The size is terrific, too. We can wash Queen Comforters with a set of Queen sheets. When we first got it, I quickly set out to clean all the comforters around the house. In fact, I often find myself looking for extra clothes and items to clean since this washer is so efficient. (Boy, do I sound boring or what? How about if I change that to "it allows me to spend more time reading fabulous books, catching up with the news, writing, working, hanging out with the kids and family and friends?" OK, done.).Oh, one other option that swayed me to choose the Samsung: it has a drain and a filter on the front. We had a Derecho storm in the DC area last year, and we lost power for a week (along with tens of thousands). A neighbor had just returned from vacation and had put a full load of laundry in her new front-loader. Since it was full, it was locked. After a week, she said it stunk to high heaven. I wanted to make sure to avoid that problem, and the drain ensures we can avoid that. There's also a Pure Cycle function that Samsung recommends once a month in order to avoid the smelly washer problem. It does not require any special chemicals either, which is helpful.I definitely recommend the Samsung Washer.
