1Stay away from LG
By Bluema
This review is for the LG dryer model DLEX8000W. I've owned LG Tromm washer and dryer pair at my prior residence and decided to purchase another set of LG washer/dryer for my new home. My past set of washer/dryer ran without problem for over 5 years, but this time I wasn't so lucky and currently experiencing the displeasures of dealing with LG customer service for the first time. When you buy an LG, make sure that the vendor you're purchasing the unit from will own up and exchange for a manufacturer's defect. My dryer unit ARRIVED defective, and made a very loud hammering noise and vibrations upon cold start from the moment it was turned on for the first time. The vendor I purchased the unit had me contact LG warranty service, or I had to pay for the return shipping in upwards of $300-500 - please note that it seems most online vendors have a similar policy when dealing with an LG defect. The only feasible replacement option was to go through LG warranty service, and LG sent out local warranty technicians three times (one appointment a no show) who could not determine the cause of the problem after taking the unit apart completely several times. The last tech sent out called LG tech support, and they assumed that the problem was with a worn turbine, rubber bushing and a washer that'll need to be replaced. If that doesn't work, they may replace the entire dryer drum that could be dented although it doesn't look dented at all??? wow - how is that a brand new dryer unit was shipped with WORN parts? Doesn't LG QA their appliances before shipping new products? The bottom line is that LG customer support is horrible and full of attitude, and they're completely adamant about their policy that unless a unit is deemed "unrepairable" by their own tech line, you'll get many warranty service visits and parts replacements even with a brand new unit. At one point, they even noted that my dryer noise is normal until I sent them another set of videos to prove otherwise. I've had my dryer for less than 30 days, but it is full of scratches (from the clumsy techs) and I completely regret purchasing it online. Even if the unit noise gets fixed with further parts replacements, the appliance has already suffered quite of bit of strain on its body/motor that probably reduced its lifespan. Do yourself a favor and get it from your local appliance store, and know that LG customer service is rated 547 to 25, a whopping 96% negatively reviewed under Customer Service Scoreboard. I am completely disappointed with LG, and I'll stay away from the brand.

5Reasonably fast and large capacity dryer.
By avi
I bought this thing from Sears to replace an old standard top loading washer and dryer after the washer developed a leak. Not very happy with Sears, due to some mixups in the delivery, but once I got the jumbo washer and dryer installed and running, it just about blew my mind. Between the extra capacity (~2 times more than my old washer) and faster drying (~1 hour instead of 1.5 hours) I think this pair processes my laundry 3 times faster. The extra options and efficiency are nice, but the speed and capacity are what really amazed me and differentiate it from the competition. I also really like the clearly audible and pleasant song it plays at the end of the cycle. Way better the *brrrrr* noise my old dryer made. The only downside is that the drum doesn't drain away bits of hair or the occasional ball of lint as well my old washer. A quick wipe down between loads resolves the issue.I can't speak to the customer service issue accept for the fact that JD Power put LG just below Kenmore Elite (also made by LG) in their 2013 washer and dryer rankings. The closest competitor is Samsung (also Korean BTW). There are just a couple of other brands that come even close, though Meile is absent from the list (maybe they didn't interview enough Meile owners).http://www.jdpower.com/consumer-ratings/homes/ratings/909201545/2013-Laundry+Appliance+Satisfaction+Study%3A+Clothes+Washer/index.htm?sortBy=Overall%20Satisfaction%20deschttp://www.jdpower.com/consumer-ratings/homes/ratings/909201544/2013-Laundry+Appliance+Satisfaction+Study%3A+Clothes+Dryer/index.htm?sortBy=Overall%20Satisfaction%20desc

5Very good dryer
By John M. Petersen
This review is largely in response to the previous review bashing the dryer.I purchased this dryer based on Consumer Report's recommendation, 9 months ago. We have 2 children in the house, and it seemed to me that the larger the washer and dryer the fewer times we'd have to do the laundry. Be aware, it's _very_ large. My brother in law asked me what laundromat I stole it from. We have had absolutely no issues with the dryer - it seems to have rock solid build quality, and to be very well engineered. It's impressively quiet for what it does. For maybe 15 seconds after starting it makes a bit of noise, but, then quiets down. I'm not sure why or how it does this. The dryer does a good job drying clothes, and our comforters, with exception of our 1 king sized comforter. The washer will wash it, but, the dryer leaves it damp. I believe this is a limitation of dryers that are meant for residential use, there is just not enough space for the air to circulate with the dryer 80+% full. With regard to the other reviewer's mention of the "customer service scoreboard" - I did actually look at this, and, noticed, every company that makes dryers has >94% negative reviews... You must keep in mind that people only contribute when their experience was bad - good experiences rarely seem worth praising - the device has already required a call in to customer service after all. And, with regard to the other reviewer's dryer being broken: almost all complex devices show a U curve failure rate - a bunch of failures when they are new decreasing to few failures for most of the normal working life, increasing failures when they get old. I will agree that not having the option to have your dryer replaced is a pain, however, even local stores won't pick up big items for free - at least that's what I found buying my lawn tractor from a big box store. And, it weighs 180lbs - not exactly something you can throw in the back of your sedan and return.
