5Great washer at a great price
    By Melissa Monahan
This is the first major appliance I've had to buy for my home, and believe me, I did lots of research before my purchase. For the price, it easily beats any LG or other major brand. It has all the features of the washers at a $1500 price point. It's very quiet, tall enough (for me) to not need a stand. My dryer is still an older model, so they are about the same height and look pretty good together.I had a problem with the drain cycle, where the machine was making a banging sound. I thought perhaps from the hoses, so I called GE Appliance Support, and the fix was so easy, I was able to take care of it myself (just use the supplied zip tie to hold the hose to the pipe). My husband said we didn't need to, even though it was in the instructions, but you know, women know better...Most cycles are an average of an hour. There is the quick clean which is about 30 minutes - that's good for smaller loads. The disinfect cycle was great for my shower curtain- plastic, and while it took 2 hours, it was worth it to know I have no mildew, germs, or anything funky left on that thing. With the smaller loads like that, they say you better throw in a towel to help the load balance. My old washer(top loader), and I mean OLD, washed just fine. My dryer always ran for over an hour, sometimes close to 2 hours to fully dry a load. Now, with the spin on this baby, It's never more that 40 minutes in the dryer for a huge load.I couldn't be more pleased with my new purchase.A quick note to anyone who hasn't yet had a HE machine. Watch out for static cling! These things produce way more that old machines. I really need dryer sheets now.

5So far so good, previous GE washers had bad reviews, this is new design
    By Kevin C. Higgins
I like it so far. Bought it from Home Depot at the black friday sale (installed for $775, ($899-$200 base price)with taxes and the new hoses, which is required for a new washer install). Look for an Xmas sale.Overall it's quiet. I bought rubber pads for the feet (sits on concrete floor) and did not buy the added pedestal at $250 ish. I see no reason for the added pedestal. You have to bend down to the dryer anyhow, it's more convenient than standing up/bending down all the time. The pedestals make the washer more noisy, since atop a shaky platform the washer shakes more, and will break easier. If this fails, I'll rewrite my review immediately. Only done three loads in it so far.
