MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY!

We thought long and hard before spending this much money for a vacuum. But, the rave reviews on MANY websites finally convinced us to buy the Miele S5281 Pisces vacuum. We had gone through several other vacuums, costing $300-$400 each, all of which met with a seemingly early demise. We are definitely not hard on vacuums and probably don't run them often enough!The Miele vacuum is everything we thought it would be and more. It is about 1/2 the weight of our old vacuum and the design of the wheels make it VERY easy to pull around. The non-electric rug brush works very well, without pulling threads out of our rugs (like our old vacuum did). The parquet twister floor brush is a delight to use and allows access to many small areas we were unable to reach with our old vacuum. Our whole-house vacuuming time has been reduced about 30% by not having to continually change to small brushes for reaching those areas.But, the BEST thing about the Miele is how VERY quit it is. We used to have to wear hearing protection with our other vacuum. The Miele is VERY quiet, even on its highest suction setting and just a whisper on the lowest setting.Yes, the Miele line of vacuums is expensive. But, as with most things, you get what you pay for. They have well thought out designs and are built to last. If your budget will allow, you will NOT regret purchasing one of their vacuums.

This is an amazing machine with the air turbo carpet head- NOT for thick shag.If you have mostly hardwood and area rugs and as we do, and medium loop (Not too high) pure wool berber wall to wall in the bedrooms this is the one.It has the air driven turbo which can be adjusted for delicate orientals. Cleans the berber great! (Our old dyson filled up with the color of our oriental wool carpet ate it up, what a piece of c--- that was.) So is less damaging to wool orientals and the pure wool berbers. For thick shag you need an upright or the powerhead for that. However the nice thing about this unit is it has the connections for the electric wand so that if you wish you can add the electric powerhead in the future should you need to. (But prepare to pay $$$) They all have the same motor but the cheaper ones are lighter this one does not tip, & this thing is a dream to use- I now do all the vacuuming my wife is happy.Literally whole house in 10 minutes...Our air is cleaner I really notice it. I am a general contractor and HATE crappy tools this thing is quality.We are barefoot in our house and now the difference is amazing, the house feels so clean on our feet, works great on mexican saltillos gets the deep grout- with killer suction- the hardwood tile attachment rocks and gets the job done super fast. I believe this model is the cheapest one that comes with the Hepa-filter.Anyone who says this does not have suction has got to be kidding it beats my shop vac. Hope the wife doesn't mind when I start using it on drywall dust for my next remodel phase......Cant see needing the power head but we do not have shag carpet. I never thought I would be reviewing a vacuum what happened to my life! (Marriage) HA HA!

Powerful yet lightweight

I found this model after my husband suggested that I look into Miele vacuum cleaners. Our 4 year old daughter suffers from seasonal eczema/allergies, and so we were thinking about getting a new vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. After much research, I found that Amazon had the best price and so we decided to purchase one. When I took it for a test drive after it arrived, I was surprised at the powerful suction. It is also light in weight so it's easy for me to carry it up and down the stairs. The reason why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wished the hose was a bit longer and the dusting brush a bit bigger, but I know that that's just personal preference. Overall, I'm satisfied with its performance and would recommend this to anyone looking for a good reliable vacuum cleaner.
