Works well, set up a snap, cartridges not always available

I bought this system to replace an under the counter system by PUR. The PUR system no longer has cartridges available.After reading reviews and cartridge analysis I purchased the 1500 with monitor.Set-up was a snap, water flow is moderate, cartridges long lasting, although the cartridges are often not available.P-250 and P-250A cartridge sets are available for this unit.I use the P-250A type as they filter the gas additive MBTE which was found in the water on Long Isand NY.5 star performance minus one star for poor cartridge availability.

I am overall very happy with this filter, however not so happy with the instructions and therefore deducted 1 star. I purchased the Pentek US1500 to replace my Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Under-Sink Drinking Water System which sprung a major leak in the faucet portion after using it constantly for 3 years.First the quality of the parts and unit seem very good. Definitely superior to the Culligan model mentioned above, but it's also 3 times the price, so that was to be expected. Once I looked at the directions, I was upset because the parts that were packaged did not match the parts referred to in the instructions. I was pretty annoyed because the technical support's hours were exactly when I'm at work and it would be difficult to talk to them while in front of the unit. However, a quick Google search revealed this video from another merchant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuWem4k-Y3s) and it saved the day, because the parts in the video matched the parts I had. After correcting one major leak (my fault;tubing not seated correctly), it all worked just fine. The flow rate is also superior to the Culligan. I haven't changed the filter yet as it's brand new, but they are cheaper than the Culligan EZ4 filters although not as easy to replace. The filtered water taste was excellent and better than the Culligan's in my opinion, although the Culligan's was good too.

Difficult to install

Product arrived damaged. Still waiting on replacement parts from manufacturer. Directions on installation not accurate. Pieces referred to are missing. Important steps also missing.
