It works! That's what's important.

We bought this because our old window unit that was the same size malfunctioned. The old one started freezing up when on anything but the warmest setting. The service man said not to bother repairing it, replace it ASAP. He said the cost of repair could run twice what a new 18000 BTU unit would cost. I ordered this one on a Tuesday afternoon, and it arrived early Wednesday morning. The Prime shipping was a lifesaver, other retailers wanted to charge $200 to ship it in 10 days since it is an oversize item.The unit itself works well. It is very heavy, you will either need to have a couple of fairly strong men available, or hire someone to assist you to install it. Once installed, it worked fine. The energy saver is a plus. This is used in combination with a smaller 6500 BTU unit in the back of the house, an energy saver as well. We haven't reached up to the 114 mark again since we installed it, but I think it will do a much better job of cooling in extreme heat than the unit it replaced.Temperature has stayed fairly constant, within about a three degree zone since installing this. There is also a "dry" mode you can run if your house gets a bit humid but you don't need to run the AC. It hasn't been cool enough to try that mode yet.It works well in our very old home.

I was very limited on sizes for the thru the wall sleeve. I had a GE before, and barely anybody made a size that would fit. This one was a touch smaller and just packed around unit.It came damaged with the radiator fins, and it was a lot of damage. Luckily it did not hit the coils inside the radiator, so the thing works fine. I am happy for how it cools, and it came the next day with free shipping.It had to of been opened before because all of the packing inside was cracked and moved around, with front and back damage to both radiators.I am still giving it 5 stars because it works very nice

My 40 year old Ford Philco air conditioner finally passed on.During our recent heat wave. I ordered from Amazon, 3 days later it was here. I was able to install quickly and get cool.So far works well.We will see if it lives as long as the Ford Philco, but I doubt it.
