I'm not an Ironman, not even an Ironwoman

But I do so love this Body Composition Monitor. I've used the Tanita scale, that measures body fat, for several years:Tanita BF679W Duo Scale Plus Body Fat Monitor with Body WaterBut it was time for something more high-tech that measured other body compositions, and I also wanted to have .1 pound increments instead of the .2 that most of the Tanitas use.This scale seems to be consistent with the readings from my older Tanita, plus there are so many more measurements it's taking that I'm very happy with it. It's a little pricey, but Tanita is a high quality brand, very highly rated, and it will give you many years of accurate readings. Included is a booklet that gives you information about what significance the various measurements mean, and an excellent instruction book. Tanita also provides a chart you can use to record and monitor your personal readings over time.Definitely worth the extra money to get all of the extra measurements as well as the .1 pound weight increments (something that's almost impossible to find in any scale).

Not quite perfect

Overall nice features. Haven't owned it long enough to form a definitive opinion. However, in the short time that I have, it seems highly accurate, well made, and easy to use, with one exception...the recall feature is somewhat confounding. I got the impression that you could store multiple readings over a long period of time and then easily review them. It only stores the previous reading and you can only access it after you have just taken a current reading. In other words, you can't just push a button and see the previous reading. You have to step on the scale, take a reading and then quickly review the previous reading before it times out. Like the scale, but found that to be an obvious flaw. Please let me know if there's another way.

This is a great update from previous Tanita models. With our last scale we never knew if our body fat percentage was fluctuating from our hydration status or if we had really changed fat percentage. This one gives you both so you have an accurate idea. My husband really uses this one to track his hydration before and after 3 to 4 hour workouts. It is simple to use after looking at instructions one time. By the way, our last Tanita scale was 13 years old and still worked great.
