3Better than a standard blender, but not quite a Vitamix
By Chicago Book Addict
I got this blender as an upgrade for my Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar. That blender is actually still going strong 3 years later and works for most common blender tasks (like smoothies) but I found myself coveting the increased power of commercial-quality blenders. My existing blender was great for things like blending smoothies of soups, but what appealed to me about the more high-performance blenders like the Vitamixes and the Blendtecs of the world is that they can also handle some of the typical tasks of a food processor due to their power. That means it's not just about liquids, but also creating smooth hummus, nut butters and more. This is something the average cook might not do, but handy for someone who likes to make as much as possible from scratch or is living a raw lifestyle. I was curious to see how this blender would perform because while Omega has a history in juicers, they are less known on the blender scene. While this blender does have more power than my existing blender, I'm not sure it's quite up to snuff in comparison to a Vitamix or a Blendtec. I found that it struggled with things like nut butters, homemade flours, and purees. Heck even thick smoothies made with frozen fruit seem to challenge this blender more than I would expect for the power. To me that was a little disappointing because to me these are the reasons you upgrade from a standard blender to a high performance blender. More liquid-based smoothies and pureed soups that are silky and smooth are great, but I already achieve that pretty well with my existing blender. The other thing I disliked from a usability standpoint is that while this blender advertises that it doesn't need a tamper, which they tout as being a big difference between this and other high performance blenders. But I actually think this blender would benefit from that as there were times I had to shut the blender off to stir things around because chunks weren't reaching the blade. I would have MUCH preferred a tamper so I wouldn't have to start and stop.I also dislike that in comparison to my current blender, the container is not dishwasher safe as I am incredibly lazy and throw most things in the dishwasher. Reading the instruction manual the cleaning process seems a bit more involved than what I would typically expect from a blender, but I do find it nice that as with other high performance blenders you the process involves adding some water in and running the blender to clean it. (Though the cleaning process shown on the Vitamix website is much easier.) At least with things like smoothies and soups it works quite well. Though I do wish there were fewer nooks and crannies in the lid as they trap dust, food particles, etc.The other challenge I had with this blender is that since it is new on the market there are far fewer resources out there of how to use it properly and creative ways to use it. Vs. if you get a Vitamix or Blendtec the web is full of recipes and tutorials and even the Vitamix website itself has a lot of good tips. With Omega, it is still a much less known product. One of the pluses this blender does have over other high performance blenders (though this is subjective) is to me, it has much more of a sleek look and less of that utilitarian, commercial appearance. However it still is a very tall blender so when buying that you do need to take that into account when considering usage and storage. I have standard heigh cabinets and this definitely DOES NOT fit under them so I have to use it in a place where no cabinets are present. The plus side is that if you are making very large batches of things you have a generously-sized container. This is great if you're doing something like pureeing a soup where you have a lot of liquid to work through. It is also very substantially made. The container itself feels very solid and it's nice knowing it won't break and need to be replaced in a few years, because I have had to buy new parts for some of my other kitchen appliances and the cost for individual parts often feels so high vs. buying the whole product over again.Overall I'm torn on whether I'd recommend this product. I do think it is more powerful than standard blenders and gives smoothies a lovely texture, but it doesn't seem to be quite up to the level of a Vitamix or Blendtec.

4Omega Blender
By IIIrdRealM
Took a while to realize there was an on/off switch on the side/bottom/back/somewhere... Then all system were go! Lots of blending power. But don't know where the 3-HP rating comes from. All converters I use say this is only about half the horse power based on amps/volts etc. An enquiry to Omega remains unanswered. It is beautiful! Would like to know when larger pitcher is available...
