Perfect for our needs.
By Ben, Marin County, CA
We had removed an old trash compactor from the original owner of our house and needed to fill this odd 12" opening in our cabinet. This wine cooler was perfect. Brainless to install, and runs great. Only complaint is that it's a bit noisy...

The only one that fit my space
By Barbara Graettinger
This product seems to work fine and looks good. It just seems very expensive considering other models I have considered. The biggest selling point for me was the size. It was the only one that fit the undercounter space I had. So, for that, I am grateful.

Danby - Pretty good - So far!
By Bob
We moved/downsized to a smaller home and were forced to sell our much larger U-Line wine refrigerator. Space limitations required that we buy two narrow (12" wide) Danby wine cellars, one for whites and the other for reds. I don't have them under-counter installed, I have them situated back to back at the end of a double width kitchen island. The exterior is black so you hardly notice they are there with our dark coutertops & dark wood cabinetry. I reversed the door on one unit so now they both open away from the island - You must open the door wide to slide out shelves. The height is about 1.5" below the 36" height of the island so my carpenter son is going to build a butcher block walnut cover to extend across the tops of the two units. The shelves have stainless fronts which blend well with our modern kitchen design. The shelves slide out a little balky when loaded but I've gotten used to it. The storage configuration of each shelf is economical and 4 "normal" height & shape wine bottles will fit on each shelf - including fatter Pinot Noir bottles. Taller shouldered bottles and sparkling wine bottles make the fit a little less efficient as you can only get 2-3 non-standard shapes on each shelf. So... I only get about 21 bottles in each unit, instead of the specified 27, with my typical mix of bottle types. These two units have maintained very stable temperature thus far, even through a recent heat wave. The operating noise level, which seems to come mostly from the fan inside, isn't any louder than our new GE refrigerator, we hardly notice it. I haven't identified any particular noise from the compressor operation. Visually, I like the small door handle at the top of the door, no knee-knockers in the kitchen! The blue interior lighting is subtle and you can turn it off if desired. With the interior lighting off, you can only see the blue digital temp reading. I cannot comment yet on long term reliability as I've only had the two Danbys for a couple of weeks. However, they do have a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, twice as long as other comparable 12" wide models like Whynter and Edgestar.
