Sweaty nights? Buy this product!
By Frogybloop
After excitedly buying a memory foam mattress 3 months ago, I quickly discovered that while it was amazingly comfortable, I continuously woke up in the middle of the night soaked in sweat wherever my body was touching the mattress. after a week of this I started researching possible fixes for this and heard about the wonders of wool mattress toppers. After looking at a number of options I settled on the SnugFleece line of mattress pads. They had generally good reviews from what I could tell, and despite the higher price, they seemed to be designed to fix exactly the problem I was having. To help anyone out there with the confusing number of "snugfleece" options on Amazon, know that some of the products are actually mislabeled. On the snugfleece official website you'll see they have the "Snugfleece Line" including the Snugfleece Original and the Snugfleece II. These are sewn into a pure cotton backing and can't be washed in a washing machine. They next option down is the "Snugsoft Line", which includes the Elite, Imperial and Deluxe. These are sewn into a synthetic poly thread instead of cotton, which allows for machine washing (though I've heard they dont hold up that well with machine washing). Amazon has labelled everything as Snugfleece, without the distinction between the Fleece and Soft monikers. Not sure why... but thats what explains the price differences. I chose the SnugFleece II as I felt the 2/3 wool in comparison to the sungfleece original would be enough to keep me dry and night. Additionally, I felt the cotton backing would hold up better and be more breathable and comfortable in the long run.The build quality of this mattress pad is absolutely top notch. The cotton backing its sewn into feels solid and like it will hold up over time. The elastic straps on each corner fit my mattress perfectly and hold it in place easily. Additionally, there are 3 elastic bands sewn into each strap so the stress of holding it on to the mattress is spread out without allowing any warping. As suggested by the packaging, I vacuumed the wool side of the pad prior to first use to pull off any extraneous wool that was floating around in there. As for comfort... I've been sleeping like a baby for the two weeks since I've had it on my bed, and the night sweats... gone. It adds a really nice soft feeling to my mattress will still keeping that solid and firm feeling I enjoyed from the memory foam mattress in the first place, and appears to completely control the temperature of my sleeping area. I can't speak for the cheaper Snugsoft models with the poly thread backing, but I would highly recommend this to anyone experiencing temperature based sleeping problems. The sleep I am now getting was well worth the slightly higher price of this mattress pad.

restful sleep, soft and comfy just like a cloud
By BargainHunter
We bought a new 100% all latex mattress about 6 months ago which we absolutely love more than our previous Select Comfort/Sleep # bed. However, even with the new bed, my spouse was experiencing heel pain during the night due to pressure points (he's a back sleeper) so his dermatologist recommended lambswool for the foot of the bed. (Wool fibers offer soft, cushioned support that conforms to the contours of the body which helps to ease painful pressure points and increase circulation, while providing insulating qualities as well.)Before buying the SnugFleece II, we went the quick and cheap route first, buying a "sheepette" pad about 20x30 for ~$30 from our local medical supply house. The sheepette wasn't true lambswool and the backing was rough and scratchy like carpet backing so it was quickly discarded and we continued the search. After much research, we narrowed our choices to either the SnugFleece II or the more expensive Holy Lamb Organics Happy Lamb Fleece Mattress Topper. We decided on the SnugFleece II because not only was it less expensive but it carried a 30-day sleep guarantee and if the SnugFleece II didn't work, we could exchange it for the Holy Lamb (which is not returnable). (Note: we didn't buy our SnugFleece through Amazon because I wasn't sure about the return policy for a bedding product and DreamSoft Bedware had a better price with a 10% coupon at the time.)Then our next decision was between the cotton, dry clean or the polyester, machine washable model. We thought long and hard about the dry clean requirement but decided since we don't take the mattress pad off the bed every week and will probably only take it to the cleaners 1 or 2x/year, it wouldn't be a problem to buy the SnugFleece II with the cotton backing which we felt would breathe better. (If there were a wetting problem we would have purchased the other style with polyester backing.) We then had to select the amount of wool and thickness of the lambswool pile; we chose the 1-3/4" pile and the 60 oz. of wool (SnugFleece II) rather than the 84 oz. of wool (SnugFleece Original) as we were still leery that more wool could mean too much warmth and more chance of itchiness.Since I have asthma and am extremely sensitive to smells, I was concerned that it would produce an odor (sheep stink) but after taking it out of the plastic bag and letting it air out on the bed for an hour, I didn't notice any odor. We stripped the bed and put the SnugFleece II on it, then vacuumed it with a handheld vac and placed a clean fitted sheet over top the pad. It fit perfectly and it was easy to see that the mattress cover was constructed one row at a time, securing the wool to a cotton backing in its natural upright position where the crimp of the fibers remains intact, which allow it to stay lofty and resist compression. We were impressed with the thick, elastic mattress straps that secured the pad well and didn't ricochet off the corners of the bed but were so easy to put on!I was really concerned that wool would be too scratchy (I cannot wear wool clothing) but it wasn't. I was also concerned that it would sleep "hot" and I would not be able to tolerate that but, again, it doesn't! My last concern was that I was looking for lambswool that you put ON TOP of the fitted sheet, not under, so that my spouse's heels would be directly on the lambswool but the SnugFleece is used UNDER the fitted sheet so I was afraid the SnugFleece wouldn't help relieve the pressure points on his heels. That concern was put to rest when my spouse stopped complaining about heel pain every single night!Sleeping on the SnugFleece II, on a latex mattress, is like heaven now! The SnugFleece wasn't cheap but it's worth it's weight in gold for us both to get a good night's sleep. As an added bonus, I've found that it's helped with night sweats and insomnia issues as well. (I hope you can tell by reading my review that I didn't take this purchase decision lightly as I had many concerns that, fortunately, were unfounded with the SnugFleece II.)

Excellent customer service . I bought two pads. One with cotton back and one with poly back. My review
By Debra
First let me say I bought this cotton backed one and also bought a polyester backed one form thIS same company. The elite with the poly back is wonderful and I'm keeping it. I have slept better with it in the week I have had it. I advise the company to produce a cotton backed wool pad without thick seams and they will have another great product. Right now ONLY ON THE ORIGINAL WOOL THERE ARE seams cotton back. And for me it wouldn't work . darn because I like the wool from this company. If the company changes the cotton backing and will post on their advertisement that they now have a flat cotton backing , I would love to remove this post, as they have been so kind to refund me for the product and also shipping costs too.THE POLY BACKED WOOL PADS HAVE FLAT SMOOTH BACKS AND I KEPT THAT ONE AND I LOVE IT, I AM ONLY RETURNING THE COTTON BACKED WOOL PAD SOLELY DUE TO BACK SEAMS, THE WOOL THOUGH IS A GOOD BUY . IF YOU CHECK OUT THE WOOL FROM HOLY LAMBS I BOUGHT ONE AND IT COST $100 more AND NO THICKER WOOL.SO THIS COMPANY OFFERS A GREAT BUY. HOPEFULLY THE COMPANY CHANGES THE COTTON BACK TO BE LESS SEAMY AND THAT WOULD MAKE AN AWESOME PRODUCT. MAYBE THE SEAMS WON'T BOTHER YOU ON THE COTTON BACKED WOOL PADS. THERE ARE NO SEAMS ON THE POLY BACKED WOOL PADS FROM THIS COMPANY
