One year on still working well with daily use
By W. Dickens
The automated sensor functions work well for me - both cooking fresh and frozen vegetables and reheating chilled food. It can soften or melt foods like butter or chocolate without exploding or burning them; my only complaint is that there are no automated menu functions to do this; you have to lookup the relevant food/power level/time in the instruction book. I don't like popcorn and have never tried cooking this.I find the timer function useful when doing other stovetop or oven cooking. The interior is smooth and easy to clean and it's relatively easy to recenter/reposition the tray compared to other models I've owned. The stainless steel finish looks smart. The mid-size worked well for me; I don't like pokey little units, and my benchtop was not large enough for a large unit.Overall it has worked very well with daily use for one year now. I thought it was a really good buy.Update: Dec 2012. It has continued to work flawlessly with daily use for over 3 years. Last month I moved to a new house with a built-in over cooktop model that doesn't work half as well as this Panasonic unit. I'm keeping it in the basement in case I find some other use for it. Too good to sell or throw away! I have a good impression of Panasonic microwaves based on this. Stars updated from 4 stars to 5.

Works Splendidly.
By Gary Peterson
Our microwave oven recently gave out. What does one do? Get it repaired or get a new one? Well, it was a General Electric model and gave us five good years of service. But, it only cost 150 bucks new and a repair was likely to be costly, and we'd still end up with a 5-year-old microwave. We opted to go for a new one and purchased this Panasonic 1.6 cubic-foot model. It goes well with the decor of our kitchen and is actually larger, more powerful, quieter and less expensive than the old GE. We've used it now for over a year and it's performance has been flawless. I'd have to say that it's better than the old GE in every way.We use our microwave primarily for heating foods or drinks and cooking already-prepared frozen food dishes. We also use it for popping corn and a variety of miscelaneous tasks. The oven has worked splendidly. Plus, it's very easy to clean. We're very pleased with the purchase, but I think our total estimated satisfaction will await further long-term use, at least as long as the life of our old GE. Will it be a reliable, trouble-free appliance? Well, we've owned other Panasonic products and our satisfaction level with them has been very high. I'd have to rate this microwave oven at five stars.Gary Peterson

Disposable product
By NY Dad
I loved this microwave. Great design, looks great, feels great, and has wonderful features. But there have been little issues from about 8 months on. Since then, there have been power fluctuations, weird hums, and all sorts of oddities suggesting an imminent burnout of something. And now, after only about 18 months of use, the door latching system has given in so that the machine will neither latch shut properly or turn on.So, 1 star. If your product can't last two years, don't take people's money for it.UPDATETook a look inside to figure out if the latch problem was fixable... well, the entire latch mechanism in which the door latches sit when the door is closed is poorly designed, and is anchored on only one side to the body of the microwave with very bendable metal. On my unit, the entire latch mechanism was bent away from the door, to the point where the door latches no longer would reach the mechanism. Pretty poor performance. I don't believe that any of these microwaves will provide much of a service life, even if there are no burnout problems as noted by other purchasers.
