Cold And Loud!

I read reviews of this product (on amazon and other places too) and people mentioned it was a little bit loud so I expected it to not be the quietest unit out there. Well, it is a lot a bit loud. You can hardly carry on a conversation when you are anywhere near it. Even on F1 fans speed, the lowest, it is still just plain loud.On the bright side, it does crank out the cold air, so that part I really like. It does a great job at cooling.Installation was very straight forward. One of the reasons I went with the LG was that the unit without the "wings" on it was right at 26". GE and Frigidaire units I looked at were 26.75" wide and given my application, would not work. I replaced a samsung unit with this one, and the install and construction are almost identical which I found interesting.IMPORTANT: On LG's product web page, they have a download for the product specifications. At the bottom of the 2nd page, they show an icon for the power receptacle. It shows a 230V 15amp (two horizontal contact prongs). That is NOT what the unit I received had. My unit had a 230v 20amp plug (one horizontal, one vertical contact prong). DIdnt matter in my case, as I had the 20 amp circuit in place with a dual 15/20 plug. But, if you are wiring yours up for this AC, note that you will need a 20 amp circuit.So, i will keep it, but if I had to buy again, i would look for a quieter unit.

So Far This Unit is Amazing!

Purchased this LG unit for my 2600 square foot home. This unit occupies my kitchen/dining area and was intended to cool a part of the first floor. Within turning this sucker on, after five minutes, the humidity was gone out of my entire downstairs (hallway included) and it was billowing frosty cold air into my my house. It is powerful, and it's a bit louder than another 15000 BTU unit I have, but it is doing what it is supposed to do.Note that it requires a special 230V outlet which my electrician did quite easily.I'll update later after it's been given more of a test. So far, I love love love love it.

installation was easy and the rooms are like ice station zebra now. The unit cools a lot more area than advertised.
