What dampness?

My new 70 pint SPT dehumidifier has gotten the damp musty smell out of my basement in two days. My previous unit from another company would have taken 4 - 5 days to achieve the same level of humidity control. Located in the basement as ours is, there is only a soft purr to let us know when it is at work. It's early into its life but all has started very well.

Unit had problems from the start. Unit has to un-pluged to reset in between dumping of the water or any setting adjustment. Also keep getting error message that i had to un-plug to reset.

This is the second of 2 units (bought the second for a relative) I have purchased in the last few months. I am very pleased with the SPT's performance and the very high efficiency of the unit. The only criticism I have is that the humidity percentage readout is not accurate, so a hygrometer (purchased for a buck at Wal-Mart) will help. This inaccuracy, however, should hardly be a deterrent for purchasing this unit. The quiet operation, high volume moisture collection and unit design are all major plusses. The 2 speed squirrel cage fan is highly efficient in moving the air and the cleanable permanent filter helps to keep dust particles from accumulating on the evaporative coils. I can't be more pleased with my purchase !!
