5Money well spent
By Sers
When we decided to upgrade our washer I scoured the internet looking at review after review for all different brands and types. Immediately I realized that front loaders were out. Why should you have to perform extra cleaning to your washer so it doesn't smell like mildew? So after cutting the field in half, I wanted large capacity, energy and water efficiency and last but most important cleaning effectiveness. So why did I pick this particular model? Large capacity, it can handle our king sized comforter. It can handle an entire hamper of clothes. It literally cuts laundry time in half. Cold water cleaning, we rarely use warm/hot and this machine does well cleaning on cold cycle. The trademarked Cold Wash option is more for small loads, but the regular cycle does fine. Water usage is a lot less than our old whirlpool but cleans just as well if not better. Overall this washer is more energy efficient than my old one due to more clothes washed at one time, less water usage and shorter wash times. I also like the fact the motor is direct drive and comes with a 10 year warranty. I was worried about the control panel going out or the thing just dying within the first few months, but over a year later and haven't had any problems. I also bought the matching dryer which is going strong as well. To sum it all up, for the price compared to many other smaller, stinky, inferior washers I am completely satisfied with my choice.

5Great build quality, well-designed controls
By Buzz Lightyear
Bought this as my first agitator-less top load washer, upgrading from a 13-year-old commercial quality Amana top-loader (from back when Amana was a good brand). I briefly considered a front load washer but heard too many complaints from friends who own them regarding mold, odors, leaks, etc.I'm generally quite pleased with the WT5070CW. I spent some time comparing this model with the competition in person. I found the build quality to be a few notches above similar Maytag and GE models, and the layout and design of the controls make this appliance easy to use by any member of my family. Although the cycles are longer than those on a traditional top loader, the faster spin speed gets more water out of the clothes, shortening drying times to 40 minutes or less for most loads. The glass lid provides a clear view of your clothes spinning and tumbling, providing hours of entertainment (especially if you have kids on the autism spectrum, as I do).The basic technology of this washer is to use a combination of spinning the tub and spinning a low-profile cone-shaped protrusion at the bottom of the tub to get the clothes to slosh through the water, or the water to slosh over the clothes. This does seem to get clothes clean, just not as aggressively as a washer with a traditional agitator might. Some parts of the cycles don't inspire much confidence... you just see the tub twitching back and forth a bit, slowly spinning and then stopping, etc. You have to just let this washer do its thing and not worry about it.My one gripe about the washer is that washing waterproof mattress pads is a real problem, due to the rubber coating trapping water during spin cycles, making the tub immediately become violently unbalanced. LG even puts a warning in the manual and a sticker on the washer advising not to attempt to wash them. What to do, if you've got kids who still wet the bed occasionally? The solution we found was to make tiny slits in the rubber coating of each mattress pad every 4", covering the whole bottom of the pad. The holes are small enough to let very little moisture through on a wet bed, but plentiful enough to let the water escape during a spin cycle. It's not an ideal solution, and it took some work to modify all of our pads, but now we can at least wash them without risking damage to the machine. Hopefully this tip will help someone else. Water-resistant items that you'd rather not puncture this way probably cannot ever be washed in a high-speed washer like this one. Keep this in mind.

1Horrible Product and Coupled with Non-existent Customer Service
By M. Wilson
Bad sensors are definitely a problem with this model. I can't wash a small load of clothes or run a tub clean cycle without getting a UE load error. I have been trying for over a month to get this resolved. Finally got LG to get someone out to check on the issue. They ordered a new sensor, replaced it a week later, and the washer still has the same errors. LG refused to get someone else to come out and fix the wsher. They called the same repair company who never returned to finish the job. After calling LG again today, they finally agreed to contact another repair service. After elevating this to a supervisor, it is my opinion that LG knows they have a problem and they extend the process until you either give up and buy a different brand of washer or hire a lawyer to get your money refunded. If you are considering buying this washer...DON'T or you will have regrets! It is about time that we file a Class Action Lawsuit against LG, junk your LG washer, and find another brand!!!
