Good air conditioner, expensive white noise generator

Air conditioner received in excellent condition, securely packaged.It's easily powerful enough for my 250 sq ft bedroom, creating a noticeable differential to the rest of the apartment. The directional vents must be somewhat effective as it cools effectively even though the window is in the corner. The advertising materials say the energy efficiency rating is very high. Without a detailed study of my power bills, the weather for summer, and many years of comparison, I can't verify this directly. But I'm willing to accept it for the sake of circumstantial evidence.The remote is small and easily lost, but can be used as a remote temperature control using the position of the remote (there's a thermometer in the remote). In order to use this function, however, the remote must be left somewhere with an unobstructed line of sight to the unit.Con: as air conditioners go, this one is fairly loud, even on the lowest setting. Even the fan-only setting is relatively loud. I hope you like white noise. This is probably caused by a smaller fan/compressor rotor than other air conditioners at this BTU level (allowing the extremely high energy efficiency rating) but which must rotate much faster (more noise!) to move as much air.

Easy to install-works great -seems to be low cost on light bill and the best warranty of the bunch but it is a little loud-best to run on low fan speed

I read the reviews on this product and went ahead and purchased it... Overall I'm satisfied.Pros:- Energy efficient mode seems to work fairly well- Cools a small room quite well- Fairly easy set-up- Lightweight compared to similar units- Cheapest price for a 8,000 BTU unit- Smallish sizeCons- Does not seem to function as well as I thought a 8,000 BTU unit would, even on the highest cool/fan setting- Fan runs quite loudly, somewhat difficult to sleep in the same room- On a 80+ degree day, the unit only cools a 15'x15' room in about 2-3 hours running on the highest setting. Even then, the room doesn't feel "cold", just standard room temperature.Overall, for my situation, I wish I would have purchased a 10,000 BTU unit to keep the upstairs in my townhouse apartment cooler. Although this unit seems to work OKAY. I would have gone with a larger unit knowing this "8,000 BTU" unit wasn't going to suffice.
