Awesome features

This is the first window air conditioner I have ever bought/used. I live on the 3rd floor of an old building in Boston, so I was nervous about it fitting in my window that has a storm window lip and huge sills, but after a couple of MacGyver-like ideas, I got it installed. Keep in mind, I am a 24 year old woman who isn't very handy with screws/drills and I was able to install it by myself (utilizing my friends, duct tape and linoleum blocks) and received only a couple bruises.It cooled my bedroom quickly and I was expecting the noise to be louder, so I was surprised it was only slightly annoying at first. But as I grew up with central air, I suppose it will take some time to get used to even a quiet a/c. I really like the "follow me" remote control and the timer function. I did some extensive research before purchasing a unit, and this is by far the best I found for the features and the price.

It works... BUT the dimensions are misleading...

"15.8 x 16.2 x 12.5 inches" is what made me say "SWEET! That'll fit in my narrow windows!"It does... sort of. ***********You need AT LEAST 23" of horizontal space*********** if you're planning on using the accordion-style bellows on each side.So I'll be throwing those pieces into storage. :-/ I got McGuyver-ey and was able to jerry-rig it with insulation Styrofoam and Gorilla tape. Lord help me when we have another earthquake. I finally wrapped up installation before work this morning. And I'm hoping for a nice, frigid little bedroom when I get home.(Seriously... if the specs had actually MATCHED my window, it would have only taken 15/20 min to install. This wound up being closer to 2 hours)IF the specs had been PROPERLY listed here, I would have bought a different unit. If I think it's too shakey without the bellows when I get home, I'll probably re-pack this all up and return it to amazon.:(

I would recommend this item to anyone. It arrived on time, delieverd by USPS, box was damaged (clearly from being dropped), the unit it self had a dent to one side where it had been dropped by no other physical damage. Was installed in about 1 hr and so far is working good. It isn't quiet, but it's not loud. Easy to operate and programm. Wish I had got this unit sooner. The room it cools is in the sun all day long and it cools it perfectly. Have to say I love the sleep mode, it keeps the room cool while you are sleeping and if the temperature rises slightly it cools down very quickly. The timer is also a good feature as you can programm it to be cooling before you get home and then place it into sleep mode. All I can say is EXCELLENT!!!!
