Small but Mighty

I have an older home with rickety windows and only wanted something to take the humidity out. This installed easily and has cooled my bedroom, living room and kitchen. I shut the other 2 bedrooms since they are not in use right now and have a fan in the entrance to my bedroom to get the air to the l/r and kitchen. This little thing is AMAZING. It not only gets out the humidity, but my house is cool. I had to turn it up to 77 since I don't like it really cold. I started it at 72 to cool initially and it did within 2 hours. Plus, it's Energy Star rated and doesn't get better than that. Highly recommend.

Hello!I was hesitant to write a review within the first few weeks of usage because I wanted to make sure I had a full season of usage before posting a review. You might notice that many of my reviews on Amazon are truly less than five stars. It is also worthy to note that I have this unit installed in a 12x15 bedroom on the second floor of an uninsulated 1947 colonial house in Connecticut.In short, I can say that I find this unit to be well-built. I previously owned a 9000BTU Frigidaire unit. That Frigidaire unit did an acceptable job, specific to cooling power, but it was too loud. Then, after doing some revised math, I purchased a 5000 BTU Sharp unit to cool the same square footage. That Sharp unit did a similarly acceptable job in cooling our room but it was almost just as loud as the Frigidaire unit. My quest at that point was to purchase a 5000BTU unit that was similar in quality to the two above listed units but quieter.So I did some additional research and I thought about this Keystone unit for a few weeks. Once I decided to purchase this unit I received very quickly it in good sturdy packaging. It is noticeably smaller than the competitor units. I noticed right away that it felt solid though. The parts such as window wings and hardware also seemed comparable to competitor units. I further noticed that the inside parts (fans, impellers, and most importantly the compressor) are the same exact brand name components as in the competitor units.Installation was similar to competitor units; no notable exceptions. Upon usage of an entire cooling season I noticed that this unit is significantly quieter than any other window unit I have ever noticed, including those two units previously indicated in this review. There are the normal sounds associated with all air conditioners of this design, but this unit seems to muffle *most* of the main sounds created by the air conditioning process.The "icing on the cake" for me was the functionality of this unit and its associated remote control. The ''auto'' functions and more importantly the "follow me" functions are irreplaceable for me now. Not only do these features work flawlessly but they help the unit to provide the comfort and efficiency that I require of my appliances.Now my next "quest" is to find a good price on the 8000BTU or 10,000BTU version of this unit because we wish to also replace our old Panasonic unit in the living room which is a larger room.Thanks!

If you are looking for an air conditioner for a small-medium sized room with maximum functionality, I think this AC should be your best bet. Best thing is it comes with a remote control which may not seem like a big deal at first but if you are using it in your bedroom especially, it makes a big difference. The cooling effect is really good. Cools up to 62F and has climate control. Itt is a life saver from the scorching heat outside. It was also very easy to install, I did not need the anyone's help to get it installed to my window. Also, to help better seal the areas around the edges, I would recommend getting a high density foam tape which costs about $5. I am really happy with this product and highly recommend it.
