Good quality microwave for the price!

I purchased this unit to replace my older, outdated counter top style microwave. Having this unit installed for about 1 week I will say that my experience so far with this unit has been good.* The ability to select which venting option is a great feature. You can convert the fan unit before install to extract air through the front, top, or back of unit...very easy operation.* The unit also runs quieter than most microwaves that I have used in the past, and heats items up very quickly. I need to get used to the higher watt cooking available with this unit.* The touch controls are very responsive and accurate. The unit has confirming "beeps" with each button press.* There are dual air intakes on the underside of this unit that provides better extraction of cooking activity...smoke, steam etc. from your stove top.* The built in light on the underside of unit does a decent job of lighting your stove top, but would not recommend cooking with this light alone.* All in all, a great unit that performs it's intended purpose. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for an "above the range" microwave option.

You get what you pay for

Lets start with the positives... Shipping was fast, real fast. Instalation was easy and it will take two people but if you follow the directions you should have no problems. That said, the first problem will only show up the first time you try to cook on your cook top. The lighting is so dim you can barley see the pot much less what's in it and if steam is added forget it. The 900 Watt power level takes some getting used to and really should have been included in the product discription. The price should tell you everything you need to know.

We loved this Frigidaire microwave. And we were heavy users (2-4 times a day). The beeping is pretty loud and it does make you open the door in the middle of defrosting only to hit start again, but other than those small nuisances, it worked great for us for 7 years until it just plain died. Our only complaint is that the range hood had a very weak fan with only one setting (on).
