4Works well. Here are a few installation tips
By Enginr1
I've had this unit for a week or so and it's working very well. Better than expected, in fact. It cools like crazy. It's not nearly as noisy as I expected after reading some reviews on other sites, but it is a bit noisier than a small window unit. Certainly nothing you can't live with if you need the cooling and don't want to mount a window unit.To those who may have issues with or questions about the hot air hose or the drainage of condensate water, read on. The user manual is rather skimpy in these places.First, the hot air hose. When you attach the adapters on each end make sure to stretch out the end of the hose and see that the last coil gets engaged by the internal raised "threads" of the adapter as you screw the adapter on to the hose. Screw on the adapter until it tightens well onto the hose, at least one or more full turns. Next, slide the unit end adapter into its slot on the air conditioner. As you go to engage the window adapter end of the hose into the window adapter your goal is to engage the small hooks on the end of the hose adapter with the small slots around the large hole in the window adapter, and then rotate the hose adapter slightly clockwise to lock it to the window adapter. If you find that the hot air hose tends to "kink" as you rotate the hose adapter to lock it to the window adapter, disconnect from the window adapter and slightly tighten or loosen the hose end adapter on the hose so that when it engages the window adapter the hose doesn't try to kink. Then you will have a relaxed hose that is locked to the window adapter and doesn't try to unlock itself.Next, and this is important, the condensate water. Some reviewers seems to be a bit perplexed by the drain hose issue. Nowhere in the manual does it say to use a drain hose in cooling mode. The condensate water only needs to be drained when using the unit as a dehumidifier. I've had my unit cooling a hot several rooms for a week and have never taken the plug out of the drain hose connection. Here's how it works. Recent air conditioners make use of the water that drips from the evaporator (the cooling coils) to increase efficiency by collecting the condensate water in an internal pan and then spraying or dripping that water on to or over the condensor coils (the hot coils right after the refrigerant compressor). This helps to cool the condensor and increase the unit's cooling power. Any remaining water vapor that doesn't evaporate during this process goes out the exhaust along with the hot air. (This is also one reason why the manual recommends not having any very sharp bends or dips on the hot air hose - so any remaining water vapor does not tend to get trapped on its way outside.)Note that the manual DOES say that you have to drain any remaining condensate water from the BOTTOM drain fitting before you move the unit. This is to prevent water in the internal pan from splashing out as the unit is moved.I have no affiliation with Frigidaire; I'm just a retired engineer who knows a little about a lot, and a lot about a little, so take my advice or not as you see fit.

4So far so (very) good
By Bruce Saint James
I have been using this unit for 4 non-stop days now and it has worked perfectly. The unit effectively cools a 200 sq ft living room and 2 medium sized bedrooms with little strain and I have been pleasantly surprised with it's performance. The rollers on this unit are much better than other portable AC units I have seen.I did not purchase online to avoid damage during shipping which I experienced with a previous portable AC order.Attaching the hose was annoying but not overly difficult.

2Okay if there are no other options, otherwise go with window AC unit
By tkmomhal
Despite the poor reviews on portable air conditioners in general, we bought this unit because we couldn't find a window air conditioner that would find in the double hung windows on the sides of our picture window. After running it for 3 days in hot, humid weather, we were very disappointed in it. Here are our main gripes:1)the vent tube was a real pain to get connected and keep it connected as you placed it into a window2)the unit is very bulky and takes up a large amount of space3)the unit is noisy - quite a bit louder than the same btu window air conditioner4)it takes a very long time for it to cool the room and has to run constantly to keep it coolWe vented it outside and did not have any issues with water accumulating or leaking in the 3 days we ran it. But because it could not cool the room efficiently enough, we returned the unit. We were at Lowes the other day and found a window air conditioner that fit in the window and are much happier with that! In running the window air conditioner for a 1/2 hour, it has cooled the room cooler than the portable unit did in 3 days!I think in general that the concept of blowing cool air out at a foot or two above floor level makes the portable unit pretty inefficient unless you can place it on some sort of platform. I don't know if they are all as loud as this one, but I am glad to have found a window air conditioner that fits our needs.
