4Surprisingly Good . . . for a year
By P. Macy
I've bought 2 other dispenser-type blenders: Back to Basics SHP1000 Smoothie Professional Smoothie Maker and Hamilton Beach 53257 Wavestation Plus Dispensing Blender with 48-Ounce Jar, Black and Silver. Using them almost daily to make my Stevia-sweetened, blended espresso, milk, vanilla "Frappacinos," each lasted less than 1 year and started leaking into the base and smoking before it ended up in the dumpster. Not wanting to buy the same blenders I'd tried before, I decided on the Aroma. It's surprisingly different and effective. There is no rubber seal in the base, but easily fits onto the base and does not leak. The lid, which does have a seal, needed me reading the instructions to figure out how to put it on, but once I did it, it's simple and seals well. I didn't think I'd use the "timer program," but I can push that button, and walk away from the blender. It cycles through turning off and on for a minute, allowing the ice cubes to crush without over-heating the machine. The dispenser clearly turns off or on, twisting the knob clockwise or counterclockwise. The only complaint I have about the machine is that the dispenser does not fully drain the container; but I just pour out any remaining beverage into a glass. I haven't had this a year yet, and don't know what its longevity will be, but I'm pleased with its performance so far. If you're looking for a smoothie-maker or beverage blender, I recommend the Aroma.Added June 6, 2010: It's been a year, and this blender is now in the trash. It's mainly my fault. I ran out of ice cubes and remembered I had some frozen-together ice cubes in a sandiwch baggie and threw one into the blender, which shortly jammed and stopped. Guess the bigger piece of ice was more than the blender could handle--I should have thawed the ice a little in the microwave. Apparently I must have bent the blades because I can hear the motor running and the blades are turning, but nothing is blending. I probably could get the blades replaced, but the lid hasn't been seating very easily lately, taking multiple tries to get it placed so the blender will operate, and the dispenser has been leaking. I feel I got my money's worth out of it, but I'm now looking for a new blender..

4It's a cool blender.
By Melissa Cummins
A couple of things about this order. It came exactly as the seller said it would. It was in it's original box with a manual. It had just a couple of pieces that needed to be put together such as the mouth spout but that was very simple. Now about the blender itself. The pitcher is made out of plastic which I don't mind. That makes it very light to pick up verses the old glass one I'm accustomed to. It took me a bit to figure it out, but the blender is also made with safety in mind. You cannot turn on the blender until you have all the pieces in place. It simply just won't turn on. Originally I thought it was broken :), but I really like this feature.Things I don't like about the blender are because it only turns on by having all the pieces in place, if you want to poor out of the pitcher you have to remove the clear stop, and the cover. Of course there is the spout, but if your shake/smoothie is too thick, it'll take a while to pour out from there. The blender also has that burning rubber smell immediately. The smell however goes away the longer the blender has been on.Things I like about the blender are, the clear stop at the top also doubles as an adding function. Instead of having to take the top off, just poor whatever you want into it and it will make its way into your concoction. Of course this does not work if you need added ice, or something thick like ice cream, but for sugar or salt it's a joy.The blender also has a 60 second function which is fantastic. I don't have to look at it, or worry about it blending it does it on it's own. So far anything I've put into it it blends within that 60 seconds. It's not a continuous blending for 60 seconds though. It turns on for a couple, then rests, then does it again, and after a couple of times of doing this it stays on, then beeps at you to let you know it's done.Lastly, clean up. Because of all the parts of the blender, it makes more things to clean. There's the spout, pitcher, top, and the clear stop, but really it's not a big deal.Overall you get what you pay for with a couple of nice bonuses with this blender. I'm happy with my purchase.
