Good Sponge

These are your regular Scotch Brite power sponges: big, thick brushes that come in in the middle to easily fit in the palm of your hand, with a soft spongy side and a tougher side. Not what I would pick for heavy-duty cleaning, but versatile enough for every-day messes.The order comes with 60 sponges. Each sponge is individually wrapped, and each group of five sponges is packed together. While the environmentalist in me cringes at all the plastic, I appreciate how this makes it possible to distribute the sponges singly or in groups. Good for institutional settings.

Great Sponge & Power Cleaner

We have been using a similar Scotch Brite product for many years. This particular sponge is about 25% larger than the ones we previously used. It also is easy to grip.I received this through the Vine program and to my amazement there were a dozen packages of five in the case. We will definitely be using Scotch Brite for many months, if not years to come.The company (3M) says the scouring surface of Scotch-Brite Power Sponge 3000CC will clean and scrub pots and pans, cooking appliances, coolers, ceramic tile, countertops, maintenance equipment, sinks, faucets, porcelain fixtures, elevator doors, interior and entry doors and kick plates, desktops, floors, walls, drinking fountains, lockers and glass surfaces. The sponge side can be used to deliver soap and cleaning solutions to the soiled surfaces, and to wipe up residue. The scouring pad may cause scratches on soft metals, plastic, painted, or delicate surfaces. It should be tested in an inconspicuous area using light pressure before use on these surfaces.The write up from the company states that the sponge can be used for cleaning stainless steel appliances. We are somewhat hesitate to check this out and will reserve that task to a later time in a more non conspicuous place on the appliance.When we first opened the package there was a distinct "wet feel" to the sponge side. The sponge was soft and not hard as with our previous sponge. We tried the fist one on a skillet and sink and the result was excellent. The skillet came very clean and the tiny marks left on the sink from previous use, were actually removed by this sponge's back side while the abrasive side. I would not use the abrasive side on anything that might scratch easily.A feature that we especially like is that the "Sponge features antimicrobial technology that resists the growth of odor-causing bacteria". While I have no way of measuring this, I have to trust the manufacture that this is actually the case.

The power sponge is great when used for the right job. It's not an SOS pad, so don't expect it to rub rust off an old pan or clean our your oven. It can, however, take care of most baked-on grease problems. They seem to last a fairly decent amount of time. They don't hang on forever, but by the same token you get more than a few good cleanings out of them.
