Product Description
The VACMASTER PRO260 blends commercial quality with versatility, making it perfect for everyday kitchen use. The PRO260 offers a duality not found in other vacuum packaging machines. This machine allows the user to control their own settings, offering a more customized vacuum packaging experience, with a Pulse option for vacuuming delicate items and a Seal Now option for additional control. The PRO260 also offers automated settings for one-button, hands-free operation in both vacuum packaging and marinating. In addition, the PRO260 features a roll holding/dispensing system that holds both an 8-inch and 11½-inch roll with a two-way, built-in cutter. This machine takes convenience to a new level and makes vacuum packaging enjoyable. The PRO260 accepts bags and rolls up to 12-inch wide.

Awsome for hard and dry foods
By Lee090999
I read several reviews about the heat strip overheating and smoke coming from it. I don't know if they peeled off the black tape that protected the heat bar or not. I use mine often and I give aprox 5 minutes in-between each seal or vac & seal cycle. I know this is not for soups but, I placed left over soup in the bag and did a seal only. By two weeks later, the soup tasted just the same as the first day I cooked it. I like to dry my own herbs and blend some of them to a fine powder. The powder did start to rises up but, then I used the pulse feature and was able to vac out 95% of the air then seal. I will test the herbs out in 6 months to check for freshness. I did put an oxy absorber so that should help. I understand what it is meant by "trial & error" At times I couldn't get the bag to seal all the way across because the bag became wet or food residue. I was not about to buy the bag stand they offer for 70 something dollars, so I went to the hardware store, bought a fully enclosed plastic cup holder for cars and cut the bottom out to make a wide mouth funnel. I no longer get food residue on the bag where I plan to seal. I want to buy the chamber model soon but, I'm still going to use this one. I'm 100% happy that I did not listen to the bad reviews and found out that this is a great machine! Have to treat it with respect, use some commonsense, and practice.

Gat vacuum sealer.
By mikecq
I just graduated from the FoodSaver vacuum sealer.I read some of the reviews about bags losing their vacuum the next day or it does not work properly with the FoodSaver bags. As for losing vacuum, the users should check that the are no bones sticking out to punctu the bags.. Get some bone guard. The vacuum handles the Food Saver bags without a problem and I must say it does a great job vacuuming and then laying down a wide sealing strip.Sort of getting a regular commercial vacuum sealer, I would commend this.

Happy so far

The roll compartment is ridiculous, because if you buy the vacmaster refill rolls they are two or three times larger so they won't fit in the storage area. Anyways, I've been using this heavily with the containers and rolls. I also use the bags for marinating overnight (do research before attempting this).I've vacuum packed probably a hundred pounds of smoked meats already. This is my first vacuum sealer so I can't compare it to anything else though. Ok, the only other con is that it's bulky and kinds ugly in a colecovision-era kinda way.Oh yeah, buy those 2.5 quart containers and you can marinate almost anything in those (it alternates between pushing air in then applying a vacuum in 4 - 20 minutes, which equates to about 4 - 6 hours of traditional marinating). Basically this opens and forces the marinate into the muscle fibers! BAM!
