1Dryer, I mean, Buyer Beware!
By LadyJag
When we first purchased this dryer, we fell in love with the fact that it was a top loader. And honestly, I STILL love that feature.BUT...it often stops heating, so after running a load for over an hour, I open the lid to find cold, damp clothes. (So much for energy-efficient!) Getting this thing serviced is another expensive nightmare. Only select shops are "qualified" to work on these machines, and any replacement parts often have to be ordered...from Australia. After the third or fourth service call, the service tech finally showed me the "unauthorized" reset button so that I could stop forking over $$$ per call to reset the dryer. You have to open the lid, pop the two screw caps off the edges, take out the 2 screws that hold the front panel on, remove the front panel, then poke a pen or something in a small hole at the bottom to depress the red reset button. Naturally, consumers are not supposed to be removing the front panel of the machine, but then, dryers aren't supposed to be rolling my wet clothes around without heat, so I figure we're even.Even if you lose your mind and overlook the heating problem, this dryer became super NOISEY after only a couple of years. Not just a little rumbling every so often. Oh, no! We're talking freight train derailing, what the heck is that noise?, is that an earthquake?, I'm 2 rooms away and can't hear the TV, LOUD!This is apparently not an isolated case, either. This last time the dryer quit heating and the secret unauthorized reset button trick didn't work, I did a quick search on my local craigslist. Guess what? There were 2 other postings offering F&P dryers that don't heat.

5Excellent dryer
By vark
Had to replace a Maytag I had since 1978, it worked good those years, several times the heating rods had to be replaced, but in time as with a car, it ought to be fixed or up graded to a new one, so I went shopping, my door way to where the laundery room is, 28 inches wide, measure all of the major blands of washer an dryers out there, most came in over 36 inches wide. This one was just 27 an that is why I purchased it. It has worked great since purchase it a year ago. I got a match set when I got the washer at the time of purchase. The clothes that comes out of the washer is almost dry, takes the dryer no time to dry them, all the way. The washer spins the clothesr so fast, that there is little water left in the clothes to worry about.

1Don't waste you money
By James L. Riggs
I had this dryer for about 1 month before I had to call the repairman the 1st time. As another person mentioned, after calling the repairman several more times the repairman showed us the secret button to push to fix it when it would stop heating. (Luckily we bought the extended warranty, because we had to call the repairmen so many times). We were told at one point that the problem was that the pipes in our duct work were too small and so we replaced it. Still we were calling the repairmen frequently. Fisher and peykel finally replaced one, after it nearly caught on fire. The last straw, and let me add the the dryer was only 4 yrs old, was when we had a 2nd close call with fire. We replaced it with another high efficiency brand that we are extremely satisfied with. Thinking about a Fisher and Peykel, don't waste your money.
