Looks nice, but loud!

Overall I've been pleased with the look and function of this hood. Attractive, easy controls and not overly fussy. Draws smoke and odors well even on the low setting.One big drawback, though. This fan is noisy! For example, I often have a radio on in the background at about regular conversation volume. Once you turn on the hood fan it totally drowns it out. Even on the lowest setting, my husband complains that he feels like he is on a runway listening to a propeller plane getting ready for takeoff.If I had to do it over again, I think I'd spend a little more money on a quieter unit. However, for the price range of this model I still think it is a reasonable purchase, especially if you are working with a tight budget.

Great range hood for those with a limited budget

We have had this range hood installed for over two years now. It's quiet, effective, and relatively easy to keep clean (it's nice that the filter mesh fits into the dishwasher!).The only downsides so far have been a couple of quality issues. The light cover cracked when we installed it (even though we were careful not to overtighten the screw). The little red plastic cover for the power-on indicator has popped off a couple of times when I've reached to turn off the fan without looking (so, user error?). And, finally, the downdraft protection recently came loose; I'm not sure why the plastic gave up, if it was an installation problem or a quality issue. We pulled it out and haven't replaced it, because we're not sure how much we have to take apart to do the work (we had a contractor install it for us).We're still happy with the way the range hood looks, and it performs pretty well for something that is hundreds of dollars cheaper than anything else of a similar style.

Poor quality

This exaust was to replace one that was ten years old. I installed both and the Broan is thin and very light. It is hard to anchor so that it is stable. The small light that warns you the blower is running worked for five minutes and quit. The extension to the cieling is hard to fit in the slots in the base
