Works great,but...
By LizzieBot
We bought this washer and its matching dryer in December of 2012. I immediately loved them as they are such an enormous upgrade to the terrible, cheap top loaders I was using before. The sanitize and steam settings are fantastic for a family with three children and a husband who sometimes forgets to switch the laundry before going to bed.The unit is also pretty quiet, it doesn't rattle or make any annoying noises like I've read about in other product reviews for other machines. I especially like the "singing" alarms which are a far cry from the noxious buzzer sound I'm used to hearing. All that being said, I give this machine a 3 star rating because of one very odd problem : the lettering wipes off when one tries to clean it after the control panel has had fabric softener or detergent dripped on it. I discovered this when I tried to clean some Downy off of it, using a plain white washcloth dampened with water. Some light researching yielded many complaints about this issue, and I'm concerned Samsung will not be able to do anything so I'll have to use my extended warranty where I bought it to get a new washer (which seems silly). Apparently they didn't bother to put a clear coat over the lettering on the washers so exposure to certain chemicals -- particularly the ones used to clean laundry -- will cause the markings to wipe away. This wouldn't be so terrible if the control dial and buttons didn't add up to 20+ individual words and setting combinations. If they expect me to happily print off a picture of what it looked like "before", just so I can use the darn thing properly, they're wrong.I will try to come back with an update on how my email to Samsung turns out. If they actually have a solution that doesn't involve putting another of the same in my house (with the same problem), I will bump this up to a 4 star but leave the warning. No one should have to worry about their machine being ruined by a liquid that is used *in* the product on a near-daily basis. And doing returns/exchanges is always a pain I like to avoid.

Quiet, Energy Saving, Cleans Very Well!!
By stepCHIILD "Ryan"
I purchased this washer from Home Depot and received it with no scratches. It is a very gorgeous washer (and dryer combo). I did not purchase the pedestalsbecause I am only 26 years old and I just can't see the extra money for nothingmore than convenience.Pros- VERY quiet (at full spin speed I really had to verify it was on), cleans thoroughly, empties the detergent tray every load (easier cleanup). So many wash choices for various situations (most of which I'm sure I'll use frequently), including PureCycle. PureCycle allows you to sanitize the washing machine, killing any mold spores inside.Cons- It seems like the wash cycles take quite some time, my average load runs about 57 minutes (the sanitize cycle of the washer requests around 2 hours 27 minutes). My son loves to put his face to them and smudge the chrome. This is a very versatile washing machine; at this point I do not think I could have madea better choice. ALSO: The music is pleasant; functionality is not nearly as complicatedas it looks at first glance.UPDATE - (1 MONTH OF USE) While the sanitize cycle takes quite a long time, the rest do not. The additional time spent in the washer is saved during drying. I realized this after a few loads as the clothes are hardly even damp when the wash cycle is complete. I have had no issues thus far. Be careful when you pull the filter (you should do this often) for cleaning, make sure you pull the hose first and have some kind of bowl nearby to catch water.

Consider your needs v. your wants.
By Greg C. Tippett
We have had this set for more than a year now -First of all it looks and operates really nice. People have commented on how nice it looks (on the pedestal. Looks are good, but operation is important, as well as cleaning (for which you buy this type of machine). We bought the combination washer and dryer, so they would look nice. It would be a mistake to buy a front loader without buying the Pedestal to elevate it high enough to avoid bending over to take out and put in laundry. After a number of months of use, we found out that you should not overload the machine (too much) because the belt will come off in it's operation. That was a dumb move on my part. The energy and water you save is nice (although it's not a huge amount), and we like the different selections of operation (which gives us a huge amount of choices when doing our wash). One important note; this machine will not clean your cloths better than a "tub" washing machine. You can also load a larger amount of clothing in a "tub" machine. Cleaning is very important to me, so if I had to do it again, I'd find a nice looking "large tub" machine and go in that direction. But if your sold on the front loader - I'd recommend this product. I mean, good looks, and doing the job is important, but looks aren't everything to me.... but doing large loads and getting them clean is.
