Stainless Steel is Healthy and Tastes Better!

I bought this unit because I was tired of seeing nothing but coffee makers that contained plastic, since it leaches into the coffee and can cause health problems.This unit seems very well constructed by today's standards. It is all stainless steel, including the basket, except for one tiny silicone washer that functions as a gate valve in the percolator stem. I researched that, and found no adverse health effects recorded from such a thing. This unit has a splash pan below the drip basket that I have never seen on a coffee maker before, and I can only guess at its purpose, perhaps to decelerate and distribute the drippings, but why, I don't know. The drip basket's holes are sufficiently small so that the coffee grinds stay mostly trapped, and there are very few grounds that slip through the basket. The basket also has a nice lid that keeps the coffee grounds from splashing out of the basket. Many do not have such a containment system.Other nice features are easy alignment of the percolator stem (self-aligning due to the drip-catcher ring below the basket), and a nice wide opening at the percolator well so that cleaning is very easy. It also features a very heavy-duty cord so safety is not an issue, and it has a nice rocker switch that allows you to turn off the unit without unplugging it. In addition, the level-indicator tube is made of glass (not plastic as on many models) and it appears removable for cleaning and comes with a cleaning brush.The brewed coffee tastes delicious and I am very pleased with the quality of this unit. It's made in Taiwan, and their quality is almost always superior to anything from the China mainland. This machine is no exception, and is the best coffee maker I have found. I am very choosey about my coffee because I drink so much (and always black and unsweetened) so I am happy to report that this unit is excellent so far.I have been using it a couple of months, and I highly recommend it.

I use this only for hot water. I have had it now for several weeks and it works very well.

Used it and it made very good coffee. Used it three days and all day each day. Had no problems with it.
