Excellent Machine
By K. D. Wright
I picked this up last year in 2010 to supplement my condo's central AC because it was in the process of going out. (Leaking evaporator core). Let me just say this thing works great, easily cooled the den that it is in and just about cooled the whole rest of my condo (about 900 square feet) with ease. I don't understand the other reviews concerning reliability issues because this thing ran all last summer just about all day and night without a hitch. I just cleaned the air filter and now using it again! One other thing I would like to mention is that the window attachment is very easy to install and is very inconspicuous from the outside for those of us that don't want anything unsightly hanging out their windows. The unit also rolls from room to room very easily if needed. Thank you Friedrich for making an excellent 2 hose unit and keep up the good work. If I ever need another one of these this will be the one.

Portable AC's Have Inherent Limitations
By Agent_C
I purchased this model a few days ago and it's performing in line with expectations. You should never expect a portable AC to cool as well as a window unit with the same BTU rating, as there are inherent limitations to the design.Even with the improved 2-hose scheme, a portable AC simply cannot dissipate heat as efficiently as a window unit can... The fan units are weaker... The exhaust hose radiates a certain amount of heat back into the room... The evaporator coil is smaller, etc.All things being equal, these units take MUCH longer to cool down a space; and work best if they're left on all the time. You should also be prepared to tolerate a significant about of mechanical noise, as all of the machinery is the room, not on the other side of the window.

Friedrich P12B Worth the extra coin!
By Alex Moore
It was between the Sharp 11,500 BTU (model# CV-2P12SX) & the Friedrich P12B. The P12B was $100.00 more then the Sharp, but I'm glad I went the extra mile. 1st, I cannot understand why some people complain that's it's loud. Mine is whisper quiet! I'm cooling appx. 400 square feet & it does this without an issue. I leave it on 70 & on low fan setting & it only takes 20-25 minutes to cool down the room. Let me start with the packaging, it was better then most IMHO. Opened it right up & no a dings or dents. The exhaust set up was a little bit of a pain to set up. Took me like 45 minutes to figure it out. The manual could have been a little better. The day I hooked it up was almost 90 degrees & humid, it works very well.A few things I don't like is where they put the drain plug on the unit (@ the very bottom) I haven't needed to drain it yet (2 weeks now) & when you use the air conditioner only. Another thing is the 2 exhaust tubes are a tad ugly, but after awhile I simply didn't care because it's doing such a good job. Another thing is this unit is 20+ lbs. lighter then the Sharp which is a good thing if you were to move it around. I decided to purchase mine from a local dealer because I was concerned about shipping damage (paid $549.99 for mine plus no tax from NH) Warranty is a toss-up vs. the Sharp. Friedrich gives you a "limited" 5-Year (1 year you're completely covered) Sharp gives a flat 2-year.I would have liked to purchased a Window A/C unit but my windows are too small & to get a special made window would have costed me almost $1000.00 I liive in MA. & I only need A/C for 2 months out of the year. Although both A/C units are made in China, I think Friedrich has excellent Quality Control. Friedrich always will cost you a little more, but I think it's worth it! 2 thumbs up & I highly recommend it!
