By John F. Gonzales Jr.
The back gets so hot it heats the room up,,forget about cooling a 150 sq ft office, for some reason it will not do it.., I am just glad it wasnt too much money.I had a flood after 10 hrs of cooling, it was over flowing and the unit kept going..has a light that flashes,, ..It is a good dehumidifier piece of junk bottom line.I cannot imagine if i had to send it back.. its big and heavy

Supbar performance
By monito
This product did not meet expectations. I have used this product in New York City in temperatures in the high 70s and above with high humidity. It's in a big bedroom by Manhattan standards, which is small for the rest of the US.Cons:- It never really makes the room cold (don't even dream of very cold).- It's bulky, heavy, and takes up a lot of space once the exhaust is accounted for.- The exhaust is not well insulated at all. I suspect this is the source of the unit's problems. It can most certainly expel cold air--you just have to stand in its direct stream if you want to enjoy it.- The water exhaust bucket is always filled to the brim, meaning that you will spill water not only by removing the bucket from the unit but also by transporting the bucket to the restroom. Makes a complete mess. (Note: if you can manage to expel the water directly, that would void this problem. However, if you can manage to raise the unit that high and that close to a window, you might as well get a "permanent" unit.)Pros:- It makes the room more comfortable, but questionable at the price point.- I never woke up in the middle of the night from too much heat. I did wake up warm, though.

After 5 years of use, this is still a great unit.

I originally purchased this unit used from a friend when our upstairs apartment with vaulted ceilings and no AC started to climb north of 120 in the living room. We boarded up the 300 sqft bedroom (towels under all the doors, extra layer of cloth over the windows) and cranked this thing up. It practically saved our lives that summer. Since then we have used this unit in our bedroom (different apartments and houses) for the last 5 years. I'm not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from on this thing.I will say that it was not very effective until we added a layer of insulation to the plastic exhaust hose, but that should be done for any portable AC. The back of the unit does not heat up except for said exhaust hose. The water bucket does fill after a days worth of heavy use, but by emptying it before turning the unit on its not a problem and is a big plus over units with non-removable internal tanks that must be drained with a hose (which means elevating the unit before removing the plug or else making a very large mess)PROs:Reliable!Removable water tank (for draining/cleaning, hard to find units with this feature)Very effective once hose is insulated.Swing, Sleep, Timer, multi-fan speed.MEHs:Not the quietest portable AC, but not to loud to sleep in the same room as.CONs:Quite bulky/heavy for its BTU rating.-Writing this with the 5 year old unit chugging away keeping me cool at 76 with 95 degree weather outside.-Ordering a second unit for the home office.
