Speed Queen is Star Performer
By Onward!
I purchased the Speed Queen front loading washer (AFN50FS) and I love it. It's very quiet, holds a lot more clothes than my last front loader, and gets clothes drier in the spin cycle than any machine I've ever had. I'm writing this review because the other review is so off the mark compared to my experience. I found out about the Speed Queen from the appliance repair man who was here to fix our old washer. Because of the cost to fix the old Maytag (broken circuit board, bad pump, etc), we decided to get a new washer. After seeing a negative review like the one on Amazon, I was confused, but I trusted our repair man and bought the Speed Queen. It's excellent! Less vibration or noise than any washer I've had, very water and energy efficient, and it does a great job of cleaning. There are many cycle options (delicate, large comforters, etc). Best washer I've ever owned!

Terrible experence with Speed Queen front load washer
By Steve Blades
I have been an owner of this unit for just over 12 months and I have never had such a terrible experience with any other washer. I could handle the $1,500+ investment on this thing if it operated like a $1,500 machine..... However, there is nothing you can do to get a load balanced in this thing and when the washer goes into the spin cycle it sounds like a jet plane taking off - THEN the rattling starts - the panels that make up the housing rattle and one or more components inside the unit rattle making this a true BEAST at full operating speed (our 2 dogs run for the hills with their tails between their legs.) If you buy this thing you better place it in your garage or in another building or plan on doing laundry while you're away from home as you will not rest while this thing is running!I would go into the details about how loose change that accidently finds its way into the machine will clog the discharge pump, but that is another story and that fix is not covered under warranty!
